Continuous infusion of peripheral nerves with local anesthetic
Occasionally, neuropathic pain in an extremity is unresponsive
to treatment, including sympathetic injections. In these cases,
we can proceed to placing a catheter in the sheath which holds the
nerve and continually infusing local anesthetic for a period of
up to 10 days.
If this therapy works, but provides only temporary relief, we can
proceed to peripheral nerve stimulation.
