Percutaneous
Neuromodulation Therapy
Percutaneous neuromodulation therapy (PNT) is a new technique which
attempts to treat neuropathic pain. It is based upon stimulating
large diameter nerves to provide lasting changes in the spinal column,
to restore a more normal response to normally non-painful sensations.
It is an office based procedure. We insert tiny electrodes into
your skin in your neck or back, similar to acupuncture needles,
and electrically stimulate the needles.
We usually perform up to four sessions, each lasting about ½
hour. If you are getting good relief after 4 sessions, we would
continue treating you for another 6 sessions, for a total of 10
sessions.
