Trigger Point Injections
Muscle spasms, or trigger points, are a common source of pain.
There are multiple means of treating this problem, including therapy,
with “stretch and spray”, massage, and dry needling.
If there is no relief with conservative therapies, injection of
local anesthetics and, sometimes, steroids, are reasonable.
Trigger points are a source of referred pain, in which the pain
is felt at a site far larger than or separate from the tender area.
Injections, therefore, can have a widespread benefit.
